FRE's Women of Color Working Group is a circle of funders committed to strengthening the role and leadership of Women of Color within the reproductive health, rights, and justice movements in the United States. In this political moment especially, when the safety and rights of people of color are explicitly threatened, organizations led by and representing Women of Color must be well-resourced and further empowered to achieve impact. To this end, the Grantmaking Assessment Tool for Women of Color Leadership is intended to equip grantmakers interested in better supporting this community of leaders. The tool builds on existing resources that assist funders in bringing a racial justice lens to their grantmaking, and draws on the experiences shared by many funders that have worked within their institutions over several years to build support for Women of Color leadership.
We believe the guide has potential for use beyond the reproductive health, rights and justice sector and invite funders of other issues to consider its applicability to their work.
